Buying Certified American Gold Eagles
American Gold Eagle bullion coins in certified Mint State grades are an excellent way for investors and collectors to diversify and add value to their portfolios and collections with virtually perfect gold coins from the U.S. Mint. They combine all of the investment power of gold bullion with the collector prestige of ultra-high-grade Mint State certified coins.
Along with American Gold Buffalo coins, they are the only modern gold bullion coins backed by the U.S. government for weight and gold content. Each coin contains a full troy ounce of pure gold.
Classic Saint-Gaudens design
The American Eagle gold coin is modeled on the $20 Saint-Gaudens double eagle from the early 20th century. Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, a renowned American sculptor, it is widely considerd the most beautiful U.S. gold coin ever struck. The reverse is graced with the inspiring "A Family of Eagles" design by Mrs. Miley Busiek.
Produced since 1986 by the U.S. Mint, American Gold Eagles are legal U.S. tender, not replica coins. The one-ounce coin carries a face value of $50, though it's actual market value will vary with the price of gold.
Certified Gold Eagle bullion coins are eligible for IRAs (see below).
Benefits of Certified American Gold Eagles
The best of the best
-- Certified American Gold Eagles are the highest-grade coins available for any given production years, usually the first off the presses. They combine all of the investment advantages of gold bullion with the collector desirability of ultra-high-grade coins.Gold content guaranteed by the U.S. Mint
-- Along with Gold Buffaloes, Gold Eagles are the only bullion gold coins guaranteed as to weight and gold content by the U.S. government.Minted in 22-karat gold
-- Using the durable gold standard established for gold circulating coinage more than 300 years ago, each Gold Eagle coin is minted in 91.67% fine gold alloyed with a small amount of silver and copper added to harden and protect it against damage. Pure, 24-karat gold is actually quite soft. Adding alloy to pure gold makes it many times more durable than gold itself. Each Gold Eagle coin contains its specified weight (one-ounce, half-ounce, quarter-ounce, or tenth-ounce) in pure 24-karat gold. The alloy weight is extra. A one-ounce American Gold Eagle, for example, actually weighs 1.0909 troy ounces.Private and non-reportable
-- Unlike most gold bullion, American Gold Eagles are non-reportable the IRS by brokers. Other modern-issue gold bullion coins like Canadian Gold Maple Leafs, and South African Gold Krugerrands are reportable to the IRS when you sell them to gold dealers in increments of 25 ounces or more. American Eagles are exempt from this reporting requirement.Eligible for Individual Retirement Accounts
-- Unlike other gold bullion coins, U.S. Gold Eagles are eligible to fund IRAs. In order to include Gold Eagles in your IRA portfolio you must have an independent custodian to hold your gold. American Gold Exchange works closely with several suitable IRA custodians. Please call 1-800-613-9323 or email info@amergold.com for details.Content: | |
