The obverse depicts the classic profile of a Native American chief; the reverse displays the revered image of the American bison.

Other modern-issue gold bullion coins like Canadian Gold Maple Leafs, and South African Gold Krugerrands are reportable to the IRS when you sell them to gold dealers in increments of 25 ounces or more. American Eagles are exempt from this reporting requirement.
