British Sovereigns, or 'Kings,' in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition are an outstanding way to buy bulk gold. They offer all the benefits of gold bullion plus extra benefits like limited supply, collector demand, financial privacy, and extra premium potential because of scarcity.
Due to the ongoing eurozone debt crisis, Britain gold sovereigns have been very difficult to source out of Europe. Fortunately, we've been able to secure several hundred. Get 'em while you can because they won't last long!
Few survivors from the Golden Age
Minted by the tens of millions from 1911 to 1935, most George V sovereigns were melted down into gold bars during the Depression, and few survivors remain in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Their true scarcity can mean higher premiums during periods of peak demand.
Sovereigns were included in the survival kits of American pilots during World War II and Desert Storm because of their instant liquidity. The classic design features King George V on the obverse and an equestrian St. George, England's patron saint, on the reverse, in his mythic defeat of the Dragon.
Unlike most forms of gold bullion, they are exempt from broker reporting requirements. In our opinion, they're better than bullion for bulk gold buyers.
