| This 1853-P is an extremely well-struck example of the popular Type 1 series gold dollar, well-deserving of the gem grade designation. Fully original, it is adorned with a deep gold color and lovely mint luster. Despite a large mintage figure of more than four million struck, true gem quality examples are very scarce. NGC and PCGS have combined to certify 261 coins in gem MS65, with just 104 grading higher. |
